Archive for October, 2013

Recently there was a “crisis” in Washington DC among the managers of government. They had overspent, politicized, and planned for appropriations legislation to come to a dramatic confrontation of one party against another; and it was very exciting to those in “news” media. The Executive Administration of POTUS Obama “shutdown the government.” It was quite dramatic, people were laid off (furloughed), and completely untrue. 17% of the government was shutdown; just the parts to create drama and news coverage. The end result to all the drama resolved on cue; just as any televised mini-series or telenovela. For all of the drama and finger pointing, what really happened was more politicking and deal-making pork-barrel spending. The initial argument was that the Federal government ran out of money, so they needed a special funding bill to cover spending to year-end to keep the government running. It was a drama ruse. Plain and simple. The plan will take the Fed deficit from under 17T$ to over 17T$. There was and is no plan to limit or control spending toward being balanced or less than income. It is spend-spend-spend politics.

I have been on this planet awhile. Not overly long, shorter by far than others, but still long enough to have seen five decades and counting. In that time I have found myself studying people more than anything else. I have studied a bit of history, psychology, sociology,  anthropology, and yes, even theology. I am getting the impression we are doing this wrong.

It is October 2013 and the federal government of the USA has been “shut down” due to arguments over budgets and funding Obamacare. Well, the Fed really is not shut down. The only things “closed” by the Obama administration are things that would make others lives inconvenient or painful; everyone who is not an Obama-friend that is.

I started out my online art as a writer. As it turns out my visual art has also found an audience online. I have a point of presence on See.Me (davedocrogers.see.me). At first it was just a place to put some interesting pieces of visual art, until I was invited to participate in a showing in NYC. That show, Creatives Rising, runs through Oct 5th, 2013, and caps the show with a projection of art onto a 42 story skyscraper. My piece is time slotted for 1031p ET. So, if you are in Queens go see the show and have fun at the block party.

As it turns out, I have had really positive feedback on my visual art. Nice. And thank you! And I received an invitation to participate with the Art Takes Paris show. Nice again.

This time around there is a show coming to Miami. You guessed it, Art Takes Miami.

Within the See.Me community how they gauge participation in special feature events is through the number of support clicks the artist or art receives. This is done through the “Support Me” button. There is a registration, I think. It keeps the roboto clicks to a minimum, so it is real people not a computer liking the art.

So, visit davedocrogers.see.me and click the “Support Me” button and help me get into additional shows and special events showings. I appreciate you and your support of my surprise-to-me talent with visual art. They will only tally support clicks from October 1 – 31.

Cheers!
Doc.
