Foundational Scripture:
2 Chronicles 7.14
Romans 6.5-11, 23
Galatians 5.19-21, 5.22-25, 6.7-8
James 2.14

What are “dead works”?
•Things we do that do not lead to life…life with our Father, the God of Creation

1. Turn from wicked ways
2 Chronicles 7.14 ESV
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
•It starts with humbling ourselves
•Repent, turn away from, our wicked ways … those things God said don’t do!

2. Wage of Sin
Romans 6.23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
•Doing those things God said don’t do… that’s sin … it pays in death
•Sin is dead works … sin does not lead to life

3. Flesh
Galatians 5.19-21 ESV
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
•The list of dead works … sin leads to death, no life with the God of the Bible.

Galatians 6.7-8 ESV
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
•Sow to sin, reap death, reap no life with God … There is no life apart from God!

4. Life
Rom 6.5-11 ESV
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
•If we die to ourselves, like Jesus did at the Cross, we will also find new life with Christ.

Gals 5.22-25 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
•The list of works that lead to life.

James 2.14 ESV
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
•Let the fruit of your faith and the fruit of your life produce works that are pleasing to God.

•Repent from dead works and turn to God for help with producing works that live.

Amen?

Yep…that’s you.
The God of the Bible chose you, even before the foundation of the world. Now, just choose Him. Come to Him, He will come to you, and meet you at the Cross of Jesus Christ with new life and a life with Him, both abba Father and the Creator of Universe. How cool is that? This is His grace toward us.

Amen?

Today’s Manna in the Word:
Found by God

God is amazing.

I am amazed by the God of the Bible’s love for me, for us.

Like a good parent He waits for us to find Him. He is there waiting.

Blessed are those who were raised in Church. You heard about God and the good news of Jesus Christ many times.

Blessed, too, are you who found the God of the Bible along the way of life.

[God saying] “I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The God of the Bible made us in His image and likeness. We are His offspring. He waits for us to find Him.

We, each one of us, must find God for ourselves. We are blessed if our parents or grandparents or great grandparents are saved, but that does not mean we are.

There is a part of our lives that is missing, and we can only fill it with the God of the Bible, and that only through what Jesus did at the Cross.

Choose the God of the Bible.
Find Him for yourself.
Be found by Him.

Amen?

Today’s Manna in the Word:
Faith comes by hearing Faith

Paul wrote in Romans, faith comes by hearing.

It is important that we study the Word of God for ourselves. It is also important to “hear” the Word of God, to hear words of faith.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It is important to hear God’s Word spoken.

Find solid Bible teachers who hear God and share words of faith, that build faith in God, and are based on the scriptures.

We are not lights unto ourselves. We are built up by those different gifts God gave to the Church. Go hear words of faith to build up your faith, to encourage you in your faith.

Study, know the Word of God for yourself, and add to that hearing the Word of God, Words of Faith, from those God has given to know and to teach and to share.

Amen?

Foundational Scripture:
Psalm 1.3
Jeremiah 17.7-8
Ezekiel 47.12

Planted at the river’s edge – the river of God’s Holy Spirit
•Planted means to take root, to stay where you are.
•If you are planted, you are no longer moving around, no longer looking for the next thing.
•If you are planted and allow yourself time to grow to maturity, you will produce your fruit in season.

Psalm 1.3
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

Jeremiah 17.7-8
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

Ezekiel 47.12
And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”

“Planted, not potted”
•Planted does not move. Planted stays and grows as large and fruitful as it can.
•Potted grows to the size of the container only and is easily moved.
•Be planted, do not move around or look to another place; grow and prosper where planted.

Flourish, flower, prosper
When you are planted, you give yourself time to grow.
The sign that fruit is coming is flourishing and flowering.
Give yourself time to grow. Prosper and increase in good fruit from being planted.

Psalm 92.12
The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Milk of the Word
Two words are used for milk in the original languages of the Bible: ool, gala
•Milk is the formative meal produced by mothers to help their babies to grow.
•Mothers Milk contains all the nutrients, proteins, and fats from the mother that the baby needs to grow.
•The Word of God contains all of the things needed for life and godliness.

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance
H5763 ool
G1051 gala

1 Pet 2.2
Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation

Gather, Strengthen, Enlarge
As we grow, mature, prosper, we need to make room; not just for ourselves but for others.
•We need to look to the next generation, and the generation beyond them, to raise them up to be able to walk with God, know Jesus as Savior and Lord, and to grow.

Jeremiah 23.3-4
Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply. I will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the LORD.

Isaiah 54.2-3
“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left, and your offspring will possess the nations and will people the desolate cities.”

The best way to grow is to find a church that preaches and teaches the Bible, get planted, receive, and grow, prosper and produce fruit, and grow to maturity in God.

Amen?

Today’s Manna in the Word:
Be the people God has chosen

Because of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and others, the God of Creation, the God of the Bible chose Israel to be His people to show Himself faithful and to make His covenant.

But

God so loved the world, all of the People in it, that He gave His promised redemption, Jesus. Just as He told Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, “it is through you all of the nations would be blessed.” And they can be.

“The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭33‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Because of Jesus Christ and the Cross we now have the right and privilege to be with, walk with, live with the God of Creation and He will bless us.

Choose God.
He will choose you and bless you.

A nation is made up of people. It is not just lines on a map, nor a flag and a name. It is the People.

If the People would turn toward the God of Creation and choose to walk with, be with, Him, He will be with them and bless them.

“If My people (those who chose Him) who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.

For now I have chosen and sanctified this house (this people), that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.”
‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Be the people God has chosen and be a blessed people.
