This phrase keeps coming to mind here recently: “Scary Christian stuff”. It really takes on two meanings. First, there are scary christians out there trying to scare people into Heaven through fear of Hell. Yeah, how’s that working for you? It doesn’t mirror Jesus or what he said. The second one is looking to the scary stuff said in the Bible to sensationalize and create fear. Again, that really doesn’t mirror what Jesus said, nor what he majored on. But, for some reason, people seem to focus in on the scary stuff. Why is that?

If you have been in church for any length of time you will hear a message on Mark 11.24, and usually it is around believing, claiming, and getting. But it is more than that. Jesus gave us these bits of wisdom on purpose that we might have a fuller life here and better relationship with God.

I found myself reflecting on grace and tough times. All of us have had tough times. Those times in our lives when things were heavy, tense, and maybe even out of our control. It is in those times we either flounder around like a fishing cork on the waves – being tossed any which way – or we find anchors to steady us in those storms of life.

Faith means being fully persuaded. But having faith and being in faith are two different things. Being fully persuaded means that person lives it. Lives what? Lives “being fully persuaded”.
