Through To The End

“And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah: And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters. And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah,  and the father of Iscah. But Sarai was barren; she had no child. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s  wife;  and they went forth  with them from Ur  of the Chaldees,  to go  into the land  of Canaan;  and they came  unto Haran,  and dwelt  there. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.”

“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

“So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.”

– Genesis 11:24 through 12:8 KJV

  1. Have you been given a vision, an idea, a goal, a concept of what you would like to do or can do?

  1. Have you acted without vision or a plan? What were the results?

  1. Have you acted on a vision with a plan but failed to go all the way there? What stopped you?

  1. Have you completed a journey, a visualized goal or plan?

What were the results of you going all of the way through to the end?

How did that make you feel?

I.                    God has a plan and a purpose for each of us.

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. – Jeremiah 29.11 NRSV

‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ – Jeremiah 33.3 NKJV

Q: What plan or purpose has God communicated to you?

Q: What is the vision and purpose God has spoken into your life?

Write out your vision, that thing you want to accomplish.

Write out your plan to achieve that

Write out your action steps to achieve your plan

Write out what checks and milestones you will need to keep you on track

II.                  Knowing that obstacles come and things may distract you from your vision, what steps can you take to keep you from staying in your personal ‘Haran’?

Q: Are you currently in your own ‘Haran’?

Q: What can you do to get out of there?

Write out your current situation as it relates to your vision.

Write out your current obstacles to achieving your vision.

Write out your action steps necessary to get you on track with your vision.

III.               Vision, Plan, Action, Follow Through:

Q: Do you have a vision or a plan or a theme or a thing you want out of life?

Q: What would it take for you to get there? What would you have to do?

Q: What is stopping you from acting on that today?

Q: What is stopping you from being able to follow all of the way through to the end?

Write out your vision, make it plain.

Write out the details. Count the cost, detail the needed resources, list the people who can help, and what steps need to be accomplished?

Of those things in your plan, what can be acted on today? Tomorrow? Next week? Next month? Next year?

What decision points, milestones, checks, reminders, or mechanisms do you need to help you follow all of the way through to the end?
