The heart. It is not just a muscle in the center left of the chest. It speaks to the core of who we are as people.

We were made in the image and likeness of YHWH Elohim (the God of the Judeo-Christian Bible). God is spirit – the essence of His being. In point of fact, His name YHWH means “I am” – the essence and being of His own existance.

The core of essence of our being – our heart – is love, power, and a sound or sure nature. That is until we as a specie separated ourselves through sin – our choosing to try to live separate from the God who is life.

What happens from there is recognition that something is missing.

Man’s first reaction to separation was to be a covering for himself. Fig leaves are not long lasting at all.

Man’s second reaction was murder, then walls to hide bebind, then to make a name for themselves. Since man could no longer reach God, man made gods that he could reach.

God said in Exodus 20 to not make any graven image as a god or even for God. Man did not listen.

Check point: at what alter do you worship most often?

An idolatrous heart is conditioned to worship the bright and shiny, the rich and power, the beautiful and sensual, that at which he or she can only guess and hope.

Since man could not reach God, man made gods after man’s own fashion. The gods of man were / are made after the image and likeness of mans’ own design.

The idolatrous heart condition has set up gods to worship.

Around the world man has made idols or little gods to worship. Heroes, philosophers, the beautiful, the enticing, the awe-inspiring, and those deemed to be better than the rest.

None of them have life. Not real, everlasting life.

The idolatrous heart chases after things to worship instead of the one who created them.

Man is created to worship, to carry value and worth to one that is worthy to receive the gift.

The idolatrous heart seeks succor and satisfaction from that which cannot deliver.

Like it or not: Jesus, only Jesus can give you access to succor and satisfaction that lasts.

When the idolatrous heart finds a real Jesus, not a religious Jesus, idolatry fades away when exposed to truth, and truth fills that area of life that always seemed to be empty.

God shows up when idolatry is put away. That which was man made fades in importance and desire when that which fills to the full and satisfies has fully come into you life.

The true God puts away idolatry just by who He is. The heart condition that pursued idols has now met true Life and One worthy of all praise and honor and glory.

What the world sees as right and attempts to explain in iconography, God explains by simply showing Himself by His Spirit.

Meet God.

Ask the God of the Judeo-Christian Bible to show Himself mightily in your life through the cross of Jesus Christ.

We cannot come near God without Jesus. God will not get close to us and give us His life without our first accepting and receiving what Jesus did at the cross, the grave, and the resurrection.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Confess Jesus as Savior and Lord. Do all He commanded you according to the Bible. Now rejoice! Your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and God can walk with you and give you His Holy Spirit and be with you all ways.

It doesn’t matter what has happened if you choose to change your circumstances, commit, and stick to your decision. This is what happened in the life of Ruth; a young lady from Moab. Life became as bad as it could get then it became worse. She had no place to go. No hope for a future, so she committed herself to an uncertain future.

I recently came across two people who invited me to their bible study. We had a short discussion on who we are, what denomination, and what we believe. I came from the conversation praying for them. Theirs was a faith built on doctrine, being able to defend their faith. Their conversation implied defense as an attorney would argue their case points and with a preponderance of evidence to win their argument. I thought to myself, they know of Christianity but they have no relationship with God. How challenging it must be for them? The rigidity of religious law, the interpretation of religious text, and the constant fear of not being equal to the calling. Wow.

This time of year many people reflect on their past and what was or was not accomplished. Like the Apostle Paul, we have to recognize the past, the good and the bad, then learn to put the past behind us: our successes and our failures. We must pull ourselves up, stir ourselves up in faith, use wisdom, and go before the Lord God to ask Him: what is it we can accomplish together this year, Lord?

Foundational verse: Isaiah 43.19
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (ESV)

The Lord is ready to do a new thing in your life. He is ready to forgive your past and bless your future. Receive that from God. Receive the new start. Receive redemption, being revalued by God. You can move forward with God, in a new thing.

In Isaiah 43, God tells Israel that they are called by His name. Are you in Christ? Have you received Jesus as Savior and Lord? If you did, you are His. You are now called by His name!

When you are surrounded by what appears to be overwhelming floods and fires from those who are trying to destroy you, God says fear not. He is with you. The flood waters will separate like they did for Moses or you will walk over them like Jesus and Peter. God is with you in the midst of the fiery tribulation just like He was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Babylon. What your enemies meant to destroy you promotes you.

Pray for those who persecute you. For God is their judge. God is willing to sacrifice those who are not His to promote, protect, and bless those who walk with Him, who are His. Walk with God and forgive your enemies. There is no salvation a part from God through Jesus.

God is calling all who are His together. From the north, south, east, and west, the whole world will give up His chosen, His children, those who are called by His name.

You are His witnesses. You know who He is. You have seen His works. You will declare there is no other God but the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jesus. He delivers all those who rely on Him. He raises up who He chooses. He blesses those He chooses to bless.

Now behold: forget about what was done before. God is about to do a new thing in all the earth. His Spirit will spring forth like a river. Who can withstand it? In wild and desert places, He will spring forth, God in the midst of His people. He will be known as the present God; not the God of the past or the former things.

“Behold, a new thing I will do,” declares the Lord. “I will be Emmanuel to my People. I will be present with them wherever they gather, and they will know it is Me,” declares the Lord.

So, friend, prepare to receive God’s goodness and Himself in the midst of your worship, in the midst of your services, and in the midst of your prayers.

2016 is the year of the Lord’s Favor for those who will receive it and walk in it. Walk with God in 2016 as friends walk together, and God will be with you tangibly and in reality.

I pray God’s very best on you in the coming year. Just walk in all God has for you.

Now receive this blessing:

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. May He put His name upon you and bless you. May the Lord make all grace abound toward you; that you, always have all sufficiency in all things and may abound to every good work.

Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all you could ask or think according to the power that is in Him, at work in us, supply all your need according to His riches in Glory by and through Christ Jesus.

The world really does not know what a Christian should be like, and history is full of unkind examples. Our Christian example is all those around us will ever see. Many know about Jesus; mostly from Christmas and Easter but not much more than that. To most of the people in the world, Jesus and the God of the Bible are just figures from another religion.

Palm Sunday has been celebrated by Christians as a triumphal day. The day the King of the Jews came into Jerusalem. While it was a triumphal day, it was a day that was more an example of Man seeking an earthly solution, an earthly savior, rather than a savior who was and is God, the Creator of the Universe. The deliverer they wanted is not the delivered they got, and five days later they are shouting “crucify him, crucify him”, because he confronted their hearts and not the Romans.

It seems popular in current times to denigrate, defame, and ridicule Christianity. It is not all that nouvelle to do. It is just the current rendition of a practice nearing 2000 years old: mock Jesus. C’mon. It is not like it isn’t easy. It is not like there will be immediate retribution. It is not like there will be repercussions. And since there isn’t, people bash away. And Christians in their ignorance or timidity tolerate this, permit this. It is like most ‘Christians’ have not read their book or do not really believe it.

If all we do is study the Bible to study the Bible we only have another religion. And, too many do. If we study the Bible to better know who God is, to learn His voice, to learn what it is He has done, to learn what it is He will do and will do again, so we can have a relationship with Him, then we study the Bible to better support a relationship – not a religion.

Son of Man, Son of God, God … which is it? Is he all three? Who did Jesus say that he was?

Some have argued that Jesus was nothing more than a holy man and sect or cult leader. Some at least accredit him as being a “prophet” and a teacher. Some said he was an elevated personality. Some said he was just one incarnation of the God entity. Some may as well have called him a Jedi master.

I look at what Man mostly talks about in media, social circles, news and faux-news, and the lives of those around me living life. Man seems to be really busy being Man and busy. It seems to me that people (Man) are just filling those moments between naps. What are we doing?

I know people who are theists, non-theists, atheists, and theists of a different sort – if that makes sense. Some even label themselves ‘Christian’. They have one thing in common, mostly. They do not understand Christianity, or Judeo-Christianity to be more precise. They like to use the term ‘God’ or ‘god’ as if by using the term they are experts on the subject; or as to deride those who believe in the ‘God’ of the Judeo-Christian Bible. My spirit is concerned for them and hurts for them. They do not know what they are doing. Not that I do, but I have a pretty good idea based on what Jesus said and John saw while on Patmos. Bottom line, we as a specie are in trouble.
