The Right Leadership Paradigm
I have been engaged in business and observed leaders since my youth; about 50 years worth of work life now. I have met and served under many great leaders and many leaders who by example taught me to not be like them.
The most effective leaders have all been “firm but fair”. The best among them all them sought out what was it I needed to be successful in what I was doing. This did not occur to me until many years later. All I knew was there were certain leaders in my life that looked out for me and I did not want to disappoint them.
I found out later that what they were doing was success in leadership by serving those they led.
History is replete with examples of those who were alpha types or even hyper-alpha types. But they were known for their ruthlessness and cruelty and self-centeredness.
Sadly, fewer are the examples of leaders who so cared for their people that their people would do whatever was deemed necessary to ensure success. Those few “great” leaders were known for their service to those they led and their success.
Be that leader, just as Jesus said :
“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:25-28 NKJV

Be the leader who is known for causing those they lead to succeed by serving them, and thereby, ensuring your own success and legacy.
