As Jesus came to the end of his time on Earth, he knew his disciples and followers would be spiritually and emotionally hurt at his passing. Jesus came for one purpose: judgment of sin and salvation to those lost.
“Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I to this hour. Father, glorify your name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spoke to him. Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to me.#(1)
Jesus left no doubts about the manner in which he would leave them. Pontius Pilot, as governor of Judea, would crucify over 6000. Everyone knew what “lifted up” meant. But, Jesus did not want to leave them there, with just that news.
It had ever been God’s plan that the seed of the woman would destroy the works of the devil. The Son of Man was to be the anointed salvation of God’s people. God would bring His own salvation, pay the price, and deliver to His people life… through the death of one.
“By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”(2)
“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and to them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin to salvation.”(3)
Jesus’ disciples and followers looked for a king to replace the Sanhedrin and Roman rule. They did not expect, even though told, he would be a sacrifice to cover the sin gap so they could have life. They just wanted life in status quo but under a jewish king. But, that is not what God wanted to give them. God wanted to give them Him.
So Jesus told them he would have to die, on a cross, to be a sacrifice for many, that if they looked to him as salvation they would be healed.
Jesus had the words of life. Jesus touched them. They were healed. Jesus spoke to them. They were healed. Jesus blessed food. Multitudes were fed. They touched him and were healed. The demonic called out to him and fled at his command. Jesus was their beloved hero.
Jesus knew they would be devastated once it started; especially when he would die. But, he knew something they did not.
“If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.”(4)
Jesus came to be the Messiah, the anointed one, the one commissioned to be the salvation of God’s people. And, he did that. He did that through obedience, through teaching, through walking out prophecy, through shedding blood to cover every area where we might come up short, and through judgment and the cross.
All of this, not so he could be a religious martyr or sacrifice, but so he could bring peace and unity back to God and His children.
The gift of judgment and the cross is unity with the God of the Bible, if we believe what Jesus did was enough. From there, we can rebuild a relationship with God and He can rightfully give us His Spirit, again. We can be with Him and He with us.
The Spirit of God, the essence of His being, is with you. Believe Him. Receive Him, through Jesus Christ.
Now, the fullness of God is yours. Walk with Him. Talk with Him. Allow Him to fill up your life. Allow Him to bring you peace in your turmoil; peace in your life; healing, health, wholeness. Allow Him to work out peace between you and Him. Allow Him to show and do amazing things in your life.(5)
Simply ask and believe you receive.
In Mark 11.24, Jesus is quoted saying: whatever you ask, believe that you receive them and you shall have them.
Believe on Jesus Christ as your judgment and peace with God. And you will have that.
Believe that the Spirit of the living God is yours for the asking and receiving. And you will have Him.
Believe that He will walk with you, comfort you, heal you, give you peace, prosper you, and you will have that.
“Doubt not in your heart, but believe that those things which you said come to pass; you shall have whatever you said.”(6)
Only…
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”(7)
Only…
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. You and your whole family.”(8)
Amen to a new adventure.
Simply pray: Father God, I ask you to come into my life by what Jesus did at the cross. Forgive me my sin. Let me live my life with You. Give me Your Holy Spirit. Be with me in this life and forever. Amen.
